Joining the Weekly Async
To join us in our Archipelago games, you'll need a supported (or unsupported) game and the Archipelago client. This quick guide should help you get up and running. If you need help, feel free to ask!
Installing Archipelago
- Select your game from the lists at https://archipelago.gg/games (official) or https://mk-404.github.io/Archipelago-Games-Library/ (community listing) and look at the setup guides to setup the mods or client for your game.
- Grab the Archipelago software from GitHub. This may be required, depending on the game and how it connects to the randomiser.
- Scroll to the bottom of the changelog of the GitHub page, and under 'Assets' grab the appropriate file for your system:
Setup.Archipelago.version.exefor WindowsArchipelago_version_linux-x86_64.tar.gzfor Linux
- Run the installer, or extract the files to a directory you will remember, depending on what you chose.
- Scroll to the bottom of the changelog of the GitHub page, and under 'Assets' grab the appropriate file for your system:
Configuring your Game
Submitting your YAML
There are a few options when it comes to setting up your game.
- When submitting game, you will want to configure your options for the game you want to play. Visit the game's Options page (eg. for Super Mario World), configure your randomizer settings in a way that feels right for you, then put in your player name, click 'Export Options', and save the resulting file somewhere familiar. Post that file into <#1424285864690716763>.
- When an Archipelago game starts (generally around Saturday at 9PM AEST/AEDT), all the files in <#1424285864690716763> at the time will be used, and a link to the room will be posted in <#1424284176777089166> and in the <#1424284299921981461> thread. The room link will contain all the information you need to join the game: The room address and port number, the names of the slots in the game, links to both the overall tracker and player-specific trackers, and downloads to any applicable files players need to play their game.
- If your game requires the use of a patch file (console games, usually), you can use the patch by opening the Archipelago Launcher, clicking the 'Open Patch' button, and selecting the patch file you download from the room.
- If you want to participate regularly in our games, you are welcome to ask for the <@&1424288912549089290> role!
